Scrapbooks from Vigdís Finnbogadóttir's 1980 presidential bid are now available for digital browsing.
These scrapbooks were donated to Kvennasögusafn (the Women's History Archives) by Gerður Steinþórsdóttir and Sigríður Jónsdóttir on June 30, 1981, pictured here with President Vigdis who was also present at the time. The gift was receibed by Anna Sigurðardóttir at her home, Hjarðarhagi 26, where Kvennasögusafn was located for the first 20 years of its existence.
For the occasion, Vigdís wore a silk scarf featuring the United Nations International Women's Year logo designed by Valerie Pettis, while Anna wore a necklace with the same logo. The necklace is preserved at Kvennasogusafn and will be on display in mid-October.
